I apply makeup with paintbrushes.
I think that it's important, once you have found your passion, to weave it into as many facets of your life as possible.
For example, if you love cooking, perhaps you start a weekly dinner group with some friends.
If you like music, maybe you set up bi-weekly donations from your banking account to a great cause that supports children with special needs learning music.
Or, if you're like me and love to paint, perhaps you do what I do and outfit your typical beauty regimen with painting tools.
No, that doesn't mean using paint thinner to remove my eye make-up or use palette knives to apply lipstick.
But I do apply some of my makeup with real paint brushes.
Applying makeup is an art-form, but instead of a canvas, you have a face to work on.
I've found that the quality of high quality paintbrushes outweigh the quality of nice makeup brushes I have seen.
In this way, I keep my passion at the forefront of my mind on a daily basis. I remind myself of that activity that I love more frequently throughout the day and, weirdly, it makes me even more excited for the next time that I can sit down to paint again.
It infuses my life with more of that thing that I love.
The options are really endless, as far as ways to do this.
I first began doing this by decorating the walls of my own apartment with my art. I began surrounding myself with the thing that I loved, and I continue to do so with each passing day.
Inviting friends to museums with me, scrolling through Instagram Liking other artists' creative works, and yes, reaching for a gorgeous long-stemmed paintbrush to top off my highlighter each morning.
It helps me to live more poetically.
It helps to saturate my world in love for my art.
